Storyboarding
I tend to storyboard the films I make, and so often get approached by other filmmakers to help with their compositions for shots and certain tricky sequences, and am always happy to help. For me, having this visual guide for blocking, lighting and visualising how actions would move around the frame is very helpful in getting exactly what you want, and if not, at least the essence and tone intended for the frame.
